'Deciphering the Mechanisms of Developmental Disorders' (DMDD) is a Wellcome Trust-funded research programme that brings together developmental biologists and clinicians from across the UK to study mouse embryonic lethal gene knockout lines.
We are using the latest 3D imaging, transcriptomics and histological techniques to identify abnormalities in embryo and placental structure.
Embryonic lethal lines are a tremendous untapped resource for developmental biologists and clinicians. By identifying genes essential for normal embryo development, they provide a unique window into the genetic regulation of embryo growth and tissue differentiation.
Their study can also offer important insights into the origins of human developmental disorders.
